Good ways to promote music for free? - JJEA - 03-24-2014 10:44 AM

Hi! I'm 15 and I've just made an album. I've put it on Soundcloud, iTunes (sent it off), and Spotify (sent it off). I have 50 likes on my Facebook page (mainly friends/friends of friends etc.), but I want to expand and gain a wider audience.

I don't have the money to advertise, I approached a record label and they said the music had to be professional recorded (my quality is good, but not professional). I don't want to spam etc.

Are there any real and simple ways to make people hear about my music? Thanks.

Thankyou for your replies! Does it matter that I don't have any videos to go with it though?

You could make a youtube music video for your favorite song. after that post it on Facebook and encourage your friends to watch it, that's how one of my friends got discovered and now she has all of her songs professionally recorded.

A youtube video that goes viral can be a life changer.

That "Fridays" video that got countless views and earned her college education and bought a bodyguard cost a total of $4000 for the song and video production.

Doing something innovative or outrageous an get a low cost production a lot of views. Lots of bands make their big money from concert and not from CD sales in these piracy infested times, don't be afraid to give away a part of you to promote your brand.

you tube wins hands down for those with a limited or zero budget

Yes upload it onto Youtube and then ask all of your friends, relatives, teachers and everybody else you know in life to hear the album online and make them recommend it to their friends too. Then sit back and hope that a music producer comes across it and signs you up.

In the meantime you might want to consider finding a proper job when you are of age.
