I know I can be invisible on the computer version of Facebook through the chat settings but never figured it out for Facebook mobile for Android.

go to 'app settings' and turn off chat.
you might also have to log out off the app completely. facebook can be weird sometimes
I turn off chat on the app before i go to bed, and i have people saying 'hi' to me hours ago assuming i was on
