it is useful if you create a page for yourself where you say what you do. try and get people to join your page and then send out things about your business. facebook is a very helpful tool for a growing business and can make business boom. but be cautious because anyone can comment on what your business does and how well you guys do it.

But if your talking about the ads on the side there useless.
