I want to terminate my facebook account

go to account, then when the drop down list comes up, click account settings.
when the page loads, the last thing you should see on the bottom of the page is deactivate account.
click on the button that says deactivate account.
it will ask you why you decided to leave facebook, and any other feedback you want to give, which you dont have to answer, then click confirm.
it should be fully terminated in less then 48 hours. it takes a while sometimes.

There are two options
If you want to just temporary close your account then you can deactivate it and it can be fully brought back at anytime
Account>account settings>deactivate
If you want to permanently close your account follow this link and it will be terminated after not signing in for 14 days
