When I ask a question there's a box and next to it says 'show my name' but it's crossed out with a red line. Help?

Sounds like you are commenting as a guest. If you want your name to show up you need to either create a unique account at ask.fm or to sign up with one of the other accounts they accept (that is if they accept other accounts). I am not familiar with that site, but I know many comment boxes, like this one, give you the option to use your Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, etcetera. Some sites want you to join their site, use a social account or Disqus. If you haven't already, take the time to create a few accounts so that your name will show up when you comment and so that it is easy to respond.
