my corn snake wont eat? - Jason - 03-24-2014 11:24 AM

i bought him home today and he was last fed 7 days ago and i was told to feed him every 7 days, is it normal for him not to eat or should i be worried?

Yes, just relax, all that 'excitement' of the move home has his tummy in a knot and a not want-a-eat mode.

Yes it is normal for a corn snake to refuse its first meal in a new home. Give him another week and he will eat for sure. There are many reasons why they do not eat here are the following
Stress: Adding anything new to the tank could stress them out. They get stressed easily.
Improper Temps: Being too hot or too cool. If its too hot they will not want to eat. If its too cool they will go into hibernation. Proper temps are 80-88 degrees F.
Shed: Sometimes they will be hesitant while in shed.
Feeding them something different. Such as feeding them live mice at first then switching over to f/t mice. These are all reasons on why they may not eat. Check out my facebook page at Corn Snake Facts and Questions to learn more info on them. You can also post pics and questions you may have. I have years of experience with corn, milk, and king snakes. Hope to see you on this page!
