Group invitation on Facebook from someone who's not on my friends list...? - K - 03-24-2014 11:33 AM
I have been invited to join a group on Facebook (something about a free iPhone) by someone who is not on my friends list. I have no idea who the person is; we have no mutual friends.
How were they able to invite me to a group when they're not on my friends list?
I know you can get invited to events by admins of groups that you are in, so I checked, but the person who invited me is not an admin of any group I am in...

One of your friends on Facebook could be in that group and had suggested to another friend in the group to send it to you. Or it could be an advertisement paying Facebook to send these invitations around.
