Facebook Question about Profile Privacy? - Dire straits - 03-24-2014 11:33 AM

Is there a way to edit your privacy settings so your profile does not appear in search results if someone tries to search your name in the hope of adding you ????

No, but you can block someone

I just checked facebook and I think there isn't. Why don't you just ignore those who adds you that you don't like? They will not be notified if you ignore their invites.

❶ Log into your Facebook Account at •< http://www.facebook.com >•
❷ Click on "Account" at the top right of the page.
❸ Browse down to "Privacy Settings"
OR Click here to go to the Privacy Page directly:
❹ Then click on "View Settings" under "Connecting on Facebook", or use this link instead:
❺ Here you can change the settings of how people may see you on Facebook and your profile information.
❻ Select "Friends Only" for all the options, to minimize the profile information viewable to general public who hasn't added you as a friend yet.

So you cannot entirely shut down the possibility of being searched for your profile. You can make sure that all your information is hidden from the general public.

Generally it's hard, cause even people without FB profile can find you and some of your posts on special Facebook Search site listed below. It allows to search on Facebook without logging in and using keywords.
Hope it helped)
