Why is social media not used by governments so we can cast our votes on big decisions? - David - 03-24-2014 11:37 AM

A large portion of country populations are on social media now, so why don't governments use this to get us more involved in big decisions? So rather than guessing what the people need or want they can simply cast a vote.
Obviously the government would have to set up a site for this to be done and entering your national insurance would ensure you only get one vote.
For those who don't have internet access there are library's and if an idea like this was taken on board then I'm sure councils would allocate areas where people can have there vote.

Because it might work

Hi, i'm from Brazil, I do not know how it works there, but here is how the media always want to push things to the people at any cost, but no one seeks to know the opinions and problems of society.

Because they think there opinions are more correct when in reality they have no idea what its like to live in rough estates or work on minimum wage or even have all resources such as jobs and homes taken from you to accomidate illegal immigrants and criminals

vox populi oh! they don't want to be bothered with that sort of rubbish..

This is dangerous subversive stuff. Polititions don't want democracy they just want the illusion of democracy.

Look what happened to the referendums for the Lisbon treaty.

What about others without social media?

- Devils Advocate - 03-24-2014 12:17 PM

What a great idea. Then we could all vote multiple times.

- andian - 03-24-2014 12:19 PM

Because they have THEIR money on it.
For example
"1 in four Conservative Peers have financial interests in companies involved in private healthcare. 1 in 6 Labour Peers. 1 in 6 Crossbench Peers and 1 in 10 Liberal Democratic Peers. Of the MPs,

78% are Conservatives who have these interests."

They DO NOT want to lose money on their investments,
by us voting against their NHS piecemeal privatisation.
