Go to Account setting in Right corner of ur facebook page then choose security in that and below that u choose Deactivate account... ur account wil be deactivated, anyhow wheever u wish u can use the same id and password to open that account...

u can't delete ur fb acc bt can surely deactivate it...
STEP 1:First go to Account and click Account settings.
STEP 2:In your Account Settings, select Security tab and you can see Deactivate your account click on it.
STEP 3:After clicking Deactivate your account, you will get Deactivate page of Facebook. Fill the details and click CONFIRM.
Now your Facebook account is Deactivated. Your profile will be not shown in any of your friends or any people. You are reactivate the account by simply login your Facebook account.

You can deactivate your account if you don't want to delete it and it will be activated if log in to your account but if you want to delete it just go to:

How Can I Permanently Delete My Facebook Account ?
Before you delete your account permanently be sure that’s what you want to do, because once you delete it you won’t be able to retrieve it.
If you are not sure that you will never use that account again then go ahead and permanently delete your account. Once you delete it, you’ll not be able to reactivate your account or retrieve any of the content or or information you have added.
1> Go to http://www.facebook.com/help/contact.php?show_form=delete_account ,
2> Click on SUBMIT only if you are sure you want to delete the account.
3> Once you click on Submit, you’ll be taken to a page, where upon clicking OKAY your account will be permanently deleted forever.
