Yes here's how,
1. Login to facebook and at the top right of the screen you see "settings", drag your cursor over that and wait for the list to pop up, when it does, click account settings. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click deactivate (to the right of the words in bold, "Deactivate Account".

If you violate their ToS(terms of service), and user agreements.. Then yes, but if you mean manually, you should look around in your 'edit profile' and pages such as that..

yes you can do this. but in two way you want deactivate your account or permanently delete account.
Go to this page:
http://www.facebook.com/help/contact.php?show_form=delete_account
Click "Submit" and follow the instructions.
Your account will be deactivated for two weeks, and if you don't log in during that period, your account is permanently deleted.
This method is official and should be complete, i.e. no need to delete individual photos, comments, messages or items from your profile or anywhere else on Facebook!

You have two choices to deactivate or delete the account
1. To deactivate it:
settingâ–ºaccount settingsâ–ºunder deactivate account click on "deactivate"
2. To delete it click this link:

Make sure you remove all your personal info, pictures, videos, apps, groups you joined, people you are fans of everything and change your name. Change your name to something like Minnie Mouse.
To change your name:
settingâ–ºaccount settingsâ–ºunder name click on "change"
Many people are leaving facebook. It's a shame how some people are treated. Wish things could always be peaches and cream but they are not at times. Sad Sad Sad!!!
