why is it that some pages are popular within seconds of them being created on Facebook.when I say pages I mean like product and fan pages.the same goes for groups.

When a fan page is created, the creator will advertise that page on other popular fan pages, then people join, then they friends join and so on.
With groups, you can invite people to the group, and then people can invite more, and so on.

Type in the name of the page/group you would like in the search bar which is located next to the notification sign.
And as for your second question, they are so popular coz many many people go to those pages. And also give a *like* and the page gets millions of fans....

Lot of pages advertises on Facebook, some pages uses third party advertisers, buy likes or use hidden or unfriendly likes (press like to see...).
Not all ways to promote Facebook page is allowed.
But some pages are as good as most of fans recommend it to their friends, it is called viral.

facebook allows people to ads(advertisement) their pages for earning money.due to which some pages become popular within seconds

Remember facebook is a network meaning data are interconnected. These fan pages are being found through suggestions.
