you go on facebook. sign in. then you go to my account. and then all the way at the bottom there is the choice of deactive account and you click it.

To deactivate it (keeps files, friends, etc.), click on Account and then click on Account Settings. At the bottom of the list, it says Deactivate Account. Click on that and follow the instructions.
To delete it (deletes account and everything on it), click on Account and then click on Help Center. At the right-hand side of the screen, there is a question that says "How do I delete my Facebook account?". Click on that and follow the rules.

Facebook doesn't give the option of closing the account completely but only gives the option of deactivating it.
Go to the account command to deactivate your account.

you basically log on go to account settings, scroll to the bottom and you can deactivate your account. I've seen people do it.. but end up being online a few days later, don't try to go online for a week or so, I use to delete facebook during exam week, helped me a great deal when it came to concentration.
