Blue Tit Fledgling, help? - Samantha In Wonderland - 03-24-2014 04:15 PM

Found a Blue Tit Fledgling on pathway and took it home.
My dolt of a father fed it a maggot, can feeding it a maggot kill it?

The Blue Tit Fledgling hasn't been able to stand properly or twitter since feeding it.
Before hand it was flying about, twittering, and able to walk, also healthy.
It's now laying on it's side.
"The Mysterious 1", if I was to leave it on the ground in Auchencruive it would have been trampled on by dogs and passers by.
Perhaps killed by a fox too.

It's dead now. It drew it's final breath not too long ago.

It seems like it is dying. But the maggot shouldn't have killed it. It probably had some germ on it. Next time, you should just leave it alone.

Wild birds have to be fed several times an hour...If still alive I would take it to a wild life care facility ASAP or like now..You can go on-line to see what to feed it..I know that bids will eat meal worms and you may get them at your local feed store or pet store...Also have to be very warm to digest their food...If you try and feed before it is warm you can in fact kill it..Good luck...Another thing a mother bird will feed a young on the ground if it has in fact fallen out of the nest..hopefully no cats around
