Is communication a marketing technique that will help the business grow?

For example is communicating with employees and customers through social network a marketing technique or is it classed in another category??

thanks

Yes. This kind of communications is often referred to as "MarComms" because it is a mix of Marketing and Communications techniques - it's basically using purposeful communications both internally and externally to help reach marketing objectives be they sales, public support or awareness raising. Social media is most definitely used by most companies and organisations now as a way to market themselves, without openly "selling" they are communicating, building a relationship with stakeholders and improving the reputation of their brand overall.
