Once you post something on facebook, does facebook own the rights to it? - Kurt 0245 - 03-24-2014 04:23 PM

For our english class, we have to write a survivor novella with our group. I made a facebook group so ur members could discuss and post our chapters. I kinda want to try and submit it to a writing contest to see if I can get it published. I got two of my poems published this way but I recall that one of the rules was not to submit contest has been posted online. So does facebook own the rights to my wrting? The group is on secret now so no outside sources can view it. Also, if I cut and condense my work into a short story, is that considered a new literary piece that I own the rights to?

Yep. There was a couple from the U.S. who were vacationing in France. They saw there picture on the side of a Bus in a Facebook advertisement. They were pissed, but the click wrap agreement voids your elusive right to anything you post on Facebook.
