Blogging Confuses me! Help?!? - Insanestar044 - 03-24-2014 04:30 PM

I am planning to start a blogging business. But i have no idea what the blog itself is going to be based on. I know its stupid but, i guess if i had to describe it .. i would like a topic that would get some traffic. Im not talking marketing or house selling. Just a small 'Entertainment' kind of thing ... i'm not sure though >.<
and how would u get traffic to your website anyway .. whats the chances of someone randomly typing 'www.Jimsplace.blogspot,com :/... no thats not mine Tongue, but im just wondering how do these blogs get so much traffic can i have some explaining in detail please, i have time Smile ...

Here are some ways you can promote your website and increase your traffic

1. Create great content. Everything starts with great content. A great start will be to read this Google guide on what is a high quality site http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2011/05/more-guidance-on-building-high-quality.html

2. Think 'Linkbait." Linkbait is a strategy that brings links to a website simply because of the unique and popular content on a website.

3. Optimize your website for the search engines. Make sure your website is indexable by the search engines, and has enough text for Google to digest.

4. Use RSS Feeds. RSS allows interested subscribers to immediately see your new content. RSS feeds are a powerful marketing tool that website owners and bloggers must use.

5. Use social media. Social networking and bookmarking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Stumbleupon, Digg, and others can generate significant amounts of traffic. Know the steps to social media success http://www.learningfrombigboys.com/2010/11/12-steps-to-social-media-success.html .
6. Make it easy for users to recommend your site. Give your users the tools and make it easy for your visitors to share your pages to others. Put a Facebook Like, Twitter button, Google+ , Stumbleupon or use a tool such as AddThis http://www.addthis.com.

7. Submit your site to directories. Directories may seem like a relic from the 1990s, but targeted directories still has the potential to bring traffic to your website.

8. Do article marketing. What works now if finding a few quality websites, offer to write a guest post (exclusive to them) -- in exchange, they’ll keep your link in the About the Author section and making sure that the link is a dofollow.

9. Network with other bloggers/website owners. Email other bloggers; pitch your post to them and hope that they find your post interesting enough to link or mention it in one of their blog posts.

10. Send out press releases. Press releases allow you to (a) attract media attention; (b) get more back links to your website without sending each website an email request; and © get more visibility especially if your press release gets in Google News or Yahoo News.
