First you will need to get all the information together.

Where you are starting from, where you are walking to.
How long / How far you will be walking.
Make sure you are wearing the correct footwear.
Minimum donation requirement (£1, £5, £10, £20, £50 etc)
Usually the people who are walking also donate something.
You might want to take on a little more walking to prepare yourself.
You will need to work out what Charity and what it is for.
When you will be doing it, Time and date.
Advertising (maybe make a Facebook page)

Lots of people find the Just Giving website a great way to get sponsorships - friends, family and anyone can donate for your cause, all you will need to do is get all the information above together and help spread the word, online social networking sites (twitter/facebook etc) forums, http://www.justgiving.com/
