Does facebook own my photos? - Mary Alice_1979 - 03-24-2014 04:33 PM

A few of my friends have said facebook owns all the photos we upload on their website, does anyone know if it's true? I emailed facebook and asked but I haven't received a reply. I'm worried about posting my holiday photos on the website. Also can facebook use my photos in advertisements as well?

Yes, they do. It is spelled out in their terms of service... that you agreed to when you signed up.

If you delete those photos, Facebook will still keep copies. Although it is their legal right to use them however they like, chances are, they will not.

Should you worry about Facebook using your holiday pictures in their advertisements? Nope. Should you worry about how all those pictures will all remain with Facebook archives? Only if they are embarassing.

Yes, I agree with the other 2 posts, but however, you still own some rights to your photo, so facebook won't do anything too crazy with your photos =)
