Is my computer in trouble from pop ups? - Sweetie bird - 03-24-2014 04:36 PM

Got pop up ads from watching a video from an unknown website; clip.net I think it was? I didn't even really go to the website, just clicked on the video in the search results of bing.com and the video played.

Will these pop up ads do anything bad to my computer? I was using firefox and they still got through. Is there a way that I can prevent these pop ups from coming up?

I'm usually pretty good about staying in the safe well know websites like youtube and facebook but I thought the search result thing in bing.com was different?

In any case, I just wanted to know if I should be worried. Any knowledge on this would be appreciated.
Okay, I found out that the video was from clip.vn and that the website is way sketchy. Any advice?

I would be, download and run Malwarebytes

If you have an adware infection, use AdwCleaner and Junkware removal tool. Then Malwarebytes Antimalware. If you just want to block ad's, use AdblockPlus and or your windows host file. ( Google host file and go to the mvps.org website to learn more about using it to block ad's ).

I think you should scan your computer with Malwarebytes and AdwCleaner.
