question on Facebook privacy setting. got a stalker on my hand.? - Wukong - 03-24-2014 04:36 PM

You know in Facebook privacy setting, you can set it so that either everyone, friends of friends, or friends only can search for you in the Facebook search right? So if you had it set so that only friends of friends can search you on Facebook, then strangers can't find you if they typed your name into the Facebook search box.

Well, there is another setting on Facebook called Public Search which you either disable or enable. Enabling it would allow people to search you on Google, and have your profile show up in the result.

My question is, which if you enable Public Search, yet set your Facebook search to "friends only" or "friends of friends", then can a stranger (who can't search you on Facebook) still find you using Google?

I mean, seems like a conflict here. Any guru know?
Thanks

I think that if you do set it on 'Public Search', only the chosen people would be able to see the profile (e.g. friends/ friend of a friend). If someone did click on your name on Google, then I think the person that did click on it would be able to see only your profile picture and your name, unless it was a friend. However, if it was a friend/ friend of friend, then they would be able to see your full profile using google, as that is what you have set your privacy settings.
