What just happened to my Samsung Galaxy S3? 10 points? - Bobby - 03-24-2014 04:37 PM

So I had AVG Mobile on my Galaxy S3 and for the first time it said 40 threats detected (I got my S3 recently) but I checked the "threats" and they were all pre-installed apps on the device already, YouTube, Internet, even Settings, and a couple other ones! So then as I got it recently (like a week ago - didn't want S4) I kind of did panic (even though I have warranty on it) I scanned again and it said the 40 threats were detected so I deleted the app then re-installed and scanned it and no malicious content was detected, to make sure I scanned it AGAIN and the same - no malicious files were detected.

Even though I scanned it twice and no malicious files were detected I deleted the app. My question is: is my phone OK? And do you really need anti-virus on your phone? I hardly download from the Play Store and if I do download I ONLY use Play Store and only download IM apps (Facebook, WhatApp etc).

Is my phone OK, or am I just being a bit paranoid thinking that it is infected EVEN THOUGH i scanned it twice after and no files were detected?

Do you really need anti-virus on your phone?

BTW, I deleted AVG just in case.

I don't play any games on my phone, don't see the point and I never did to be honest.
Thank you, have a great day ahead Smile

u do not need any antivirus until u root your device.

If no threats are being detected, you are probably fine. If you want to be sure, try installing a different security program and scan it using that.
You don't really need security, as long as you are careful about which apps you install, but obviously, having security is the better option.
