Can the Sims 3 be played on two computers at the same time? - mollycocolucky - 03-24-2014 04:39 PM

Alright so I know it's possible to have the Sims 3 on two computers but I'm not exactly sure how to do it so that you can play them at the same time. I've been playing sims for several years, and I have a friend who is just now getting into the game. I want her to be able to play at home without giving up my ability to play too.

I own 5 disc games (base, Late Night, Generations, Ambitions, Seasons) and 5 digital copies (University, Pets, Island Paradise, World Adventures, Supernatural). The last one I installed was Island Paradise, and I don't need a disc to play, but the last disc I installed was Seasons.

So what I'm really wondering is, does it matter what order I install the games for it to work?

For the question you asked in the title, my husband and I shared my games for a while until he bought his own copies, but I can't guarantee that we ever tried playing at the same time. You'd be better off gifting your friend the base game while it's on sale through Origin for $5 or suggesting they get it while it's cheap. There are also some "social media" type interactions you and your friend can do if they have their own copies, which my husband and I enjoyed for a while when we were playing the Sims 3 concurrently.

As for install order, I always install my expansions in order of release, and loading it up to patch between each install. By doing this I ensure that all my expansions are fully patched, not just the base game and the last expansion. This is more a safety net than required, I just don't trust EA coding enough to assume they included expac specific changes in other games, and the downloader only patches the most recent expansion you have installed.
