Does PCC Marketing exist? - LSpencer - 03-24-2014 04:39 PM

Hello. I was asked today what is the difference between UCC Marketing and PCC Viral Marketing. I know UCC Marketing is User Created Content, but I have no clue what PCC is (although I know there is PPC - Pay Per Click - marketing, but that's hardly connected to viral...).

Can anyone help me on this one?

UCC is a volunteer approach to marketing which is used by most companies. A click ad is placed on a website and the consumer has a choice whether to click or not. They are usually PPC(Pay Per Click ).

Some antivirus companies create a PCC ad that takes over you computer then displays an ad telling you your computer is infected. Then pay them to remove it.
I got a virus a month ago that used PPC ads. It was displaying ads from major companies every 20 seconds( eBay, LLbean, Target just to name a few. The companies had no idea they were paying for this type of advertising

Viral marketing and viral advertising refer to marketing techniques that use pre-existing social networks to produce increases in brand awareness, through self-replicating viral processes, analogous to the spread of pathological and computer viruses. It can be word-of-mouth delivered or enhanced by the network effects of the Internet.[1] Viral marketing is a marketing phenomenon that facilitates and encourages people to pass along a marketing message voluntarily.[2] Viral promotions may take the form of funny video clips, interactive Flash games, advergames, images, or even text messages.

I don't know if this helped but good luck.
