Despite what people think, the safest way to download anything is through the pirate bay, where people make page after page of comments telling you quality, and making sure the content is saf.

add an adblocker so you don't have to deal with the adds first

I don't know of any that charge to download. Yes, free but not all are safe unless you take precautions about your personal information. Never disclose personal information online. Guard your email address. Feel free to participate in discussions. Everyone has an opinion but not everyone has the facts.

Try flicker.com for photos. You can also load some to your Facebook.com account. There is also one called Friendster.com. In fact, you don't even need to download a website. You can save all the photos that you like on to your computer. Then, when you want to send one or more to your email friends you can just add the pix as attachments. That's what I do because I don't trust Facebook.
On the ones mentioned, you can display them for your trusted fiends to share them with. Invite them to join so you can all share pix.

All are FREE.
