Signed on for first in 3 days and had to report 41 people as it says I am following them and I have never heard of them.. Why is this?

It's either a technical glitch or you have been hacked. Change you're password, ASAP. If it carries on then contact the twitter help team, the link is below. I have been researching this issue and have found that this has happened to many people.
