Is there a way to make a Facebook group that is a 'Become a Fan of" group, as opposed to a "become a member" group?
I'm sure there is, I'm just not sure how...

Without first signing in to your facebook account, remain on the main Facebook login page. If you scroll to the bottom, there should be a part about starting a Fan part of Facebook. Usually its for celebrities, bands, actors, anything that is known to many people, etc.
But it is also a way to get you noticed. It will require an e-signature which is easy. Just typing in your name.
