I've noticed that when i place a status on my facebook using the facebook app on my Droid x it says via Android but on others it says Via Droid? Why the difference?

there is no difference. One is android and one is because you have a moto droid

It depends on whether the user is using the official Facebook app from the Market, or a Facebook service that was already pre-installed on the phone.
