I just got one today and I already got 26 followers, and I was just tweeting random things and using hashtags for a few tweets, but 2 unfollowed but then I got more. Do people follow random people? I also put my pic up.

Yeah random people will follow you if they see you're interested in the same things. Hashtags are a great way to get more followers. People follow you just to see what you have to say

Yea that's basically the point of Twitter. They just want to get updates from your Twitter. They like the stuff you tweet and just want to read more.
