My dad has been reading my messages secretly? - hailey beth - 03-25-2014 01:12 PM

Okay so my dad has been reading my messages and I have NO IDEA how he's doing it! He never looks through my phone.. but he knows everything! While I'm at school he'll text me and say things that there's absolutely no way he could know about it unless he's reading my messages. He knows about everything I've done, who I'm with, and everything I'm planning on doing and it drives me crazy! I have absolutely no privacy and I need too know how he's doing it! I want to know if there's a way I can stop him from doing it.. PLEASE HELP!
just called my phone carrier and they said it is ILLEGAL to invade someones privacy and that there is no way to read the messages without a court order to get them.
And if he is doing it illegally what website is he using? could i report it or something?

LOL he has the right to look through your things, he is your legal guardian. So i wouldn't worry about it. If you are doing bad things then stop. Parents have their ways and you kids aren't as sneaky and sly as you think you are...Remember we were all once young too, you are not the first ones to do things and definitely not the first ones to try out whatever "unique" idea you think that you came up with...We did it all before you were even born, so we are wise to the act. Just behave and if you have a problem just talk to him and tell him how you feel about it..

He can read them online if he pays for your account
my parents used to do that to me it felt horrible so i started using code or calling people instead

Have you done something to make him distrust you? I know someone who thought about doing this, because they read text messages on their daughter's phone, where the girl's boyfriend was being emotionally abusive to the daughter and the daughter was covering for him, and not thinking it was a big deal. Calling her names and asking for money.

Then they caught her in some lies, and so they thought about getting a program which would send them any text messages she got.

So not knowing any more than you've said, I would see if your dad has some reason not to trust you. Think about it and talk to him about it. If you can't bring yourself to have an actual conversation, then write him a letter. Ask him what you've done to make him distrust you. What are things he's concerned about? Try and alleviate those fears. Don't be sneaky.

Did you change the default password that came w/ your phone?

If not, they'r easy to hack as happened in UK w/ news reporters hacking into phone messages of ppL in the news and even the royal family.

They could erase messages, too.

Do what RIN said.

If you have a pc, it's easy to hack you if someone sneaks keylogger software onto your pc that records all your keystrokes like for passphrases, etc, that the sneak can then read when they check the logger. It can also be set to take screen shots at certain intervals, like every 5 secs, etc., and send them to a nuther pc.

Loggers can be beaten for passphrases by using the Copy & Paste functions to enter them rather than typing them.

But if you created the pp on the logger-infected machine, it would read what you typed.

You could freak him out by having ppL put freaky messages on your machine, like you'l be at XYZ Park for a heavy petting session w/a 30 yr old guy @ 4:30 PM 8/18/2011. Pick a place bout 30 mi away.

Then he'd drive there and back in rush hour. Haha.

What goes around, comes around.

I heard that once your dad buys your phone he can put your phone number into some kind of website and read all messages. That happened to my friend. And no, i don't think it's illegal.
Just watch what you're texting or just tell your dad that if you can have some privacy, you know? It's your own life.
