I've tried adding some of my friends on facebook but when I do I get a error message saying Sorry this person has too many friends. I thought the limit was 5000??? This person only has 900.

maybe its a bug in the server, because i see people with like 3000 friends

if they like a lot of things or are a fan of a lot of things then those are considered "friends" so maybe they have 4,100 fan pages

The limit is not on friends but on contacts. As both pages and friends count as contacts, you can make more space for friends by unliking pages. This guide will show you the most comfortable way to unlike multiple Facebook pages:
