atheists: do you commend the church for criticizing unfettered capitalism? - Luke - 03-26-2014 07:38 AM

the main media have not done enough to criticize the rampant capitalism that is taking place in much of the world today, especially in america, britain and the orient. i think that is one of the good things about having a church, it speaks out against injustices when the government and the media do not.

I don't commend the church for anything.

No, but unless it's hiding and re-locating pedophiles, I don't care what the church says/does

I actually support capitalism, but I support a different form of capitalism than the one that the church likely meant to criticize. Most western governments practice corporatism, where corporations are economic entities. In a true capitalistic economy, each individual person is their own powerful economic agent.

Also, no, I don't really commend them for that. I'm indifferent.

Yes, I do. The corporate-owned media has done a good job keeping any dissent of neoliberal economics on the fringes of mainstream awareness, at best.

The average person does not even recognize the term "neoliberal economics," nor is familiar with agents of it like the WTO and IMF.

They criticize unfettered capitalism while they don't pay taxes. Seems legit.

- Jace - 03-26-2014 08:32 AM

The church has no business in politics, take away their tax exemption now.

The pot says the kettle or sort off, they are just being Hypocrites

- EddieJ - 03-26-2014 08:40 AM

No, because the congregants have no idea what "unfettered capitalism" is.

- Ernest S - 03-26-2014 08:43 AM

They are not to make social comment but rather to show sinners that they are dead to God and need to be born anew by the Spirit.

Those churches that stoop to social comment are not living the truth and are apostacising from the truth and show themselves enemies to Christ.

Christ came to give life and not to make social comment. Nowhere in the Gospels can you find anything that even approaches social comment.

He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.
