He wants to like my photos but he's afraid that it would leave me in the firing line because I know his ex girlfriend and some of her friends. I may know her but we aren't close or communicate regularly.
Do you think it's OK for him to like my photos?

No, he is using you to try to make her jealous. He is not worthy, neither for you nor her.
