Twitter and Facebook are some of the best ways if you really know how to use them properly. You should also look into LinkedIn.

The other way to really promote something or someone is to create a good, active blogsite and populate it with content and stuff and optimize it for search engines. My recommendation is to use WordPress. I did this with my sites and it has made a tremendous difference. Also, make sure you bookmark your sites and articles.

If you want a great tutorial that I promise is the bomb for explaining how to do exactly what you're trying to do from a marketing perspective, you should check out - http://short.to/alq8.

I've been a member for a couple of months now and it's made a tremendous difference in my traffic, writing and marketing - not to mention exploding my monthly income.

Do several press releases and submit to http://www.prweb.com. That will syndicate your press releases about your new artist, and help create a "buzz"

Hello there Jon B
I am the surfer

Do not limit your expansion to the Internet, alos put advertising on music magazines and newspapers, also try to get hooked by a cell phone company, if people can download music to cell phones and get ring tones from the artist you are spreading the word people will really spread the word out , why? because what if every time people use the phone there is word of your artist? cell phone is good because of this too, think how many times a day or week you use your cell phone vs the internet? i bet more times in favor of cell phones

Try your best to make people downlaod your music to cell phones and ring tones
