I get a lot of random people adding me just because they see my profile pic, Is there a way to make it so only people who are your friends can see it?

Yes, there is an easy way.
Click account in the top right
Select privacy settings
The simplest way after this is just to hit friends only. That way everything on your fb can only be seen by your friends.

You can't Hide profile picture in Facebook.
In this way you can only hide you profile info and others not profile picture @ DOWmad
