Facebook has lots of advertisements - mostly for very dodgy get rich quick scams and dating services.

facebook currently has an advertising platform... but they do not earn that much... these types of websites are valued for their reach. Facebook reaches so many people a day that it is worth a ton. However the value of the site has dropped since people are starting to realize that it is hard to tap into the potential of its reach.
