Do labor taxes give illegals an advantage in service business? - 186 - 03-28-2014 04:07 PM

Not all states have labor taxes, but in Texas we do, some people have chosen to close their service related business like lawn care and house cleaning due to this. It seems to be an unfair advantage to the illegal aliens as we citizens have to pay taxes on income, tips and collect and pay taxes on services.
Some customers complain about the labor tax and that not everyone collects this tax and they think they are being ripped off when you follow the letter of the law.

I will contact my congressman to complain, as it seems like taxation without representation, but what could I say to best prove my point? What info and how can I get it to support my argument?

A company which can't do business without hiring illegals should be closed. Just like a restaurant which can't stay open without serving roadkill should be closed.

By the way, the only ones being taxed without representation here is the illegals.

You have a vote. That business owner has a vote. So stop staying random stupid slogans to justify your greed.

It absolutely is an advantage for illegal aliens - they don't pay any taxes, income or anything else! E.g. illegal aliens paid under the table generally are paid the same as Americans, but their take-home pay is usually near-double the Americans' take-home pay since illegals won't pay Social Security & Medicare taxes, federal & state income taxes, and other taxes which can vary from state to state (e.g. disability insurance or whatever). Employers eliminate expenses for unemployment & disability insurance, health insurance benefits, and above all, the paperwork required to handle all this mess (and wages for someone to do it)!

US businesses are taxed to death! US is the world's WORST environment to do business, based on the world's most burdensome business taxation. This is why employment is evaporating - get rid of employees to get rid of extremely costly & time-consuming taxes & paperwork burdens.

Taxation without representation is not the right tack to take. Focus on the costs & their impact on small business owners, Americans' disadvantages in the labor market, the resultant oppressive business climate, and lack of opportunities for both businesses and workers.

Of course, but those taxes are needed to pay for the kind of society we want to have. Instead of dropping all the labor taxes in some great rush to the bottom we should be finding ways to force employers to play by the rules. An organized labor system is what separates first world countries from third world countries.

Illegal immigrants don't pay taxes, but do benefit from government assistance from those who do pay taxes. They got it made from both ends.
