Facebook privacy question ? - Melissa G - 03-30-2014 09:42 AM

If I do a search on someone's name that I know has facebook and nothing comes up, is it possible that that person put in a private profile or used some kind of application/ setting so that when someone searches for them their name won't come up ? If so how can you find them ? or is it still possible to find them ?

It means they blocked you. You cannot find them unless you search for them under someone else's facebook.

Or they somehow magically avoided the urge to create a facebook account at all? That would be unthinkable.

If they have a facebook, and they're on private, and you're determined to find them, search their email, or send them an invitation email, so they know you're looking for them.
Then, even if the person is on private, you can still accept their request.

if nothing comes up then it means 2 things: they're using a nick name (many of my friends use their nicknames, not their real names) OR they have it on private mode. in that case, you can't find them. THEY have to find you

but it is possible to set on private.

If you know a mutual friend you can fnd them that way. Also they'll never know that you were looking for them. If they know you and don't like you, they might have you blocked...
