Go to Windows Update.
Ensure all updates have been applied.
Go to the Store. search for Windows and click on the update.

Hello Sam Man!
Before upgrading your computer to 8.1, it is important to have all the other Windows updates installed on your computer. You can do this by searching "Windows Update" in your start screen or launch from the control panel.
Once your Windows is up to date, navigate to the Microsoft Store and you should see the 8.1 update available as one of the first options.

1) Navigate to the Start Screen
2) Click On the Store Icon, its the first tile you'll see when the store is done loading.
3) If you don't see the tile, just search or type in "Windows 8.1" using the search at the top of the charms bar or just start typing it on that screen and the store should bring up the search field .

If Windows 8 is installed since before in your systems. It's very easy to update windows 8.1 operating systems. Once you have to run setup of windows 8.1 automatically windows 8 is updated.
