Ok so i want to get an instagram, but first i need to know something. If my instagram user name was my name, could someone who searched my name online see that i have an instagram. Thanks for all of your help.

For example, if your name was to be: Jake Thomas
and your insta username was: jakethomas
someone probably already has that name so you couldn't use it anyway.
but if no one has that username, and you get it
If someone knows your name is "jake thomas" and they type in
"jake thomas instagram" into google, you may just pop up.
Google can locate just about anything on the internet.
All you have to do is use a username thats not actually your name, something like
jake101 or jakex
and it would be more than difficult for someone to locate you that way.
