I scanned most of the text--read over it lightly except fot the hardcore legalese that's always in ALL CAPS ALL THE TIME. Which seems to me to be the biggest deterrent to actually keeping people from reading the critical stuff in a contract, but hey. (*shrugs*)
But yeah, back last year or so when I gave FB their 2 week shot, I did read most of the ToS. It doesn't help their cause. In essence, you agree to always tell the truth, not make up information, not provide false information, not roleplay, not use pen-names, and in general you agree to make your privacy as EASY for Facebook to rape and exploit as possible. You give them permission to sell your info, demand pictures, demand cell phone numbers, and more.
It's some nasty stuff really. Even IF you use every Privacy Setting present, FB reserves the right to either switch things up or to remove settings entirely and leave you wide open again. And as is the case with every set of Terms and Conditions, you don't get to sue no matter how Facebook Inc. abuses your human rights.
But yeah, even with my not sticking to every transparency rule[*] and even with my limiting my exposure to ONE Friend, mind you....I still got spammed way too relentlessly for my liking. It creeped me out and made a friend of mine I knew in _real life_ look kinda bad. Granted, we're polar opposites and don't agree on most things, but she and I get along and do understand each other. Facebook really made it look like we didn't. So I didn't stick around and deleted my account, as fictitious as it was.
Point is I did try it. I didn't like it because the privacy invasion was actually worse than I expected, and I'm somewhat paranoid on the topic.
