It's a twitter or Instagram use, you hashtag the topic you are posting about. For example you might tweet "going to the watch the last harry potter movie #harrypotter #childhoodover " which connects you with others with the same topics. Or you Instagram a photo of your "icecream sundae #yummy #imgoingtogetfat".
