It takes around five minutes to log in on my Facebook on the iPad. Why is this, it is really quick on the Internet but on the app it takes ages?

Try to redownload the app and see what happens. It could just be the app in general.

I have got the same problem from last few weeks when I use Facebook apps for my Android phone and I update that apps but still same problem. Then I check with my friend and he got same problem. So its looks like that Facebook apps got problem and we can't do nothing but what is best is to use Facebook in your mobile browser and don't use apps until they sort out the problem.
