On the left side of your Facebook wall, you will see lists. Click on "Friends" (the heading on top, not any particular group). Then, click on "See All Friends". Your friends list will pop up and "Friend" will be next to each of them. Simply click on "Friend" and choose "Unfriend".
Every now and then, people like to clean up their friends list by unfriending anyone they haven't had contact with in a while either in real life or just on Facebook. It's your Facebook and if there are people you don't talk to and you would rather not have them see what's happening in your life, feel free to unfriend them.
