I logged in for my friend's facebook for her, and I noticed that one of her facebook friends had created a group chat where 4+ users were chatting at the same time. It was where a normal 1 person chat would be. I think it had to do with making a private group.

if u look on the wall u will find your friends and just start chatting

you can't all chat in the same window, but you can chat separately with different people at the same time

Create a group at (or join a group created from this link):
http://www.facebook.com/groups
Then when people join click the "chat with group" button on the right.
(Note: these groups are different to the previous "Facebook Groups")
