I was recently told I can get sued for talking about Instagram software which gains you followers online. Im scared. Can I really get sued?!

Do you mean that you are recommending it to people? They won't sue you for that.
Authors have gotten harsh letters from companies like Kleenex and Xerox, for using these brand names as generic terms for "tissue" or "photocopy." I.e. "I got a kleenex to blow my nose."
But as far as I know, it is usually not a problem to mention brands by name, unless the context is very negative.

Depends on details. You can readily get sued for something like misrepresenting yourself as affiliated with the software (e.g., as a creator or employee). If the software violates Instagram policies, you could also have problems for telling people how to violate their user agreements, break the law, etc.
