I know it's media but can watching television be also categorized as being part of social media?

Well I'm saying no because you're not socializing. That would be like me asking, " Is a motorcycle a car?" Though they are similar they are not the same. And I know someone's gonna say, "How are cars and motorcycles similar?" Or something like that. I was using them because they both are modes of transportation on land...

No, television is a media entity but not a social media entity.

Televsion is a mass communication device . It in no way deals with social media .Television.is a mode of information through news and educational shows and entertainment wise through songs films and daily sops Views of an individual , community are spread to large no of people.
