I don't think they are real or true friends because many people have fake id's...

You need to check your friend about page and his/her images. Then you will know its fakeor not.

If you know the person outside of facebook (school, work, sports, etc), then most likely they are real (unless someone is using your friends profile info). If you dont know who they are, then they could be real just as easily as they could be fake.

Unless they're pretending to be somebody else, yes, they are real people behind Facebook profiles.
