Because database hold everything - products, categories, shipment information, product data, product pictures, etc.
Without DB e-commerce site is only few pages.

It houses all of the text based information that your website pulls onto the page. Without that text, you won't have much of a site.

in e commerce portalals data is the main thing..all the information should be stored ..so therefor a data base is needed to store and retrieve the data..
