facebook search bar? - punyboundary630 - 04-08-2014 04:17 AM

Everytime I type down the letter "M" in the search bar the name of my ex (whom I dated 4 years ago) shows up first. Well, I confess that I still like him but it's been a long time that I don't really communicate with him on fb (I dont check his pictures or his page at all)

Now what can this mean?...Is it possible that my name also shows up first in his search bar? I don't want to appear on his search bar, that would be very weird!

It's because you guys had a lot of experiences together in terms of FB posts and photos. Thus he's like the top on your search bar.

NO Does his name start with and M or have M in it? this would be why it is showing up. Facebook does not predict couples.

you have interacted with that person much more than others on fb thats why it comes first (its the best social networking site and they offer you best services!), give some time, with less or no interaction it wont show at first anymore if you interact more with other people in the mean time. And same goes for the other person too.

Technical Details:
Facebook stores search terms in it's database per user basis, i.e. if a user searches for a particular person/thing frequently, Facebook will store that terms in it's database for you. They do it to reduce server load and to reduce database-lookup time, which is why Facebook is so fast.

So to speak, his name appears on your search bar because you would have searched him a lot of times and Facebook has stored it in it's database.

Yes it is possible that your name too, shows up in his search bar when he types the first letter of your name. But this is only true if he had searched you a lot of times on Facebook, not otherwise.

It is because you two have interacted a lot with each other over Facebook. It could also be because he is the only one who matches with what you are typing it.
It is a possibility that you also appear at the top of his seach bar, but it depends on who else he interacts with.
